Programme 4
TIME is Love Screening
International video art program
Curateur : Kisito Assangni
TIME is Love Screening aims to offer spectators a selection of works through which they can examine various artistic approaches and discover both the contrasts stemming from differences in cultural context as well as the common features due to the increasing globalisation of the art world. The program hopes to encourage the audience to reflect on the normative understanding of relationships in our modern society.

The gas station, next to disappear or transform, as we have known so far, with its
associated components, gasoline, as stimulus, the car as an extension of the body and
travel, as pleasure flight, along with the scene element the birds over her, causing
chaos. All of that, is seasoned with a dose of humor to complement the information.
Lisa Birke (Canada), The Knits, 2017, 10min
A short art film that follows the arduous task of knitting a sweater, while at the
same time watching this same sweater unravel as it makes its way across Canada.
Along the way, the film tugs at the crossed threads of familial ties, art versus craft,
gendered materiality, and the relationship we have with mother nature and her great
divide. “The Knits” is a loving yet humorous homage to the artist’s
mother and her chronic affliction of “the Knits”.
Djibril Dramé (Senegal), Gardienne, 2016, 12min 23
This work challenges traditional narrative structures by weaving
the story of Muluken and Lukas, sister and brother, with that of
Israel Dejene, founder of Megabiskate to create to picture of life in Entoto.
In this narrative, Muluken teaches her brother about skateboarding and he is
able to lift himself out of a cycle of poverty. The film mirrors the work of Israel Dejene,
founder of Megabiskate.
Matilde De Feo (Italy), Il mio corpo a maggio, 2014, 01min 10
This short documentary about the body is the result of a series of meetings leaded by the documentarist Silvano Agosti. The conceptual nature of the work stems from the video-performative substance, no vfx had been applied, the movement of petals and leaves arises from the natural pressure of the flowers on the body.
Sandrine Deumier (France), Pink Party, 2017, 06min 52
Helina Metaferia (Ethiopia, USA), Cyber Spiritual Selfie, 2014, 02min 38
These video performance projects are a series of camera investigations in which I explore the constructs of identity as it relates to the body. In the videos the audience becomes engaged in work that seeks to break the «fourth wall.».
Isabel Perez Del Pulgar (Spain), Imagen afeccion, 2016, 00min 59
Vijay Raghavan (India), Techno Avatar, 2017, 00min 39
The movement and repeated action exploring the commodity of industrialize and how human habitual impacts mundane life for all of us is commoditised, tortured in mindless conflicts which are rendered sites of violation, political intolerance, and sexual impulse in urban modernity with pains of urban development over again and again.
Hiroya Sakurai (Japan), The Stream VI, 2014, 06min 52
This work is a ballet using the sound and the movement of the algae and water. With the waterway as the theater, I filmed the choreography of the algae that flows in the water.I shot this with a waterproof camera on a slider dolly . Using this device I created a simulated experience of walking through the waterway for the viewer.
Erick Tapia (Mexico), Territorium, 2015, 03min 25
Susanne Wiegner (Germany), Love in the Age of the EU, 2014, 01min 59
The film starts with a peaceful, blue sea scenery full of hope and light. The recitation of the poem begins, that describes in a very drastic way the treatment of the boat refugees by the European Union. The sea scenery becomes dark and hostile and ends up in front of a wall. The ear-deafening noise of helicopters resounds. The camera pans upwards and one realizes that the walls were built by the European emblem and the whole scenery turns into the European flag. The helicopters disappears, the Fortress Europe «was defended successfully» once again.
